Steal The Bacon

A Tribute To The Old Man

By: Scott Fata

Book Blurb:

The author takes the reader on a ride in Steal The Bacon that traverses a Father's love, American capitalism, and the fight to be heard. The story opens like a love letter of sorts, and unfolds into a road-map every dreamer must take. As the author assumes the role of the experienced traveler you might encounter along the way, the book starts like a flight taking off in a thunderstorm. You can feel the chills upon taxing to the runway. The pilot guns it, and the plane lifts off the ground. As the sky flashes and the rain streams sideways on the windows there's a sensory overload. You brace for turbulence, but there's only silence, and what seems like in moments the storm gives way to sunny skies. Before you know it, the captain gets on the loud speaker and announces the descent. You can't quite put your finger on it, but as you exit the plane, you're left with a strange sense of peace. Family takes center stage in this short story of grit and perseverance.

Bio:

Product design, invention, and writing, they whisper to me almost every hour of everyday. But its not just dollar-signs that drive a person to create, it is contribution, the stranger in the distance that weighs heavy on our hearts.

After selling my service business (Western Dock Service) upon graduating college in 2007, I dove headfirst into a product based company with my first invention, Kong Pong: a grab-n-go beer pong kit sold in party stores on college campuses in the Midwest. The endeavor raced out of the gate with promise, yet quickly, with many lessons learned, I eventually pivoted and turned towards licensing my concepts to manufacturers. It cannot be overstated, this too can be an incredibly steep climb! To all those who've paved the way, we salute you!

As it stands today, my portfolio consists of 50+ prototypes as my designs grow sharper in simplicity. However, my deepest passion in product development will always be the Toy & Game category. The reality is, when you get to sit back, watch, enjoy, take-in, an experience children playing with a game you created, you learn something: you learn that when kids play, when they build, and when they win, they eventually come to believe in themselves, which in turn leads them to believe they too can dream, and create; and that's a pretty cool thing to be a part of.

Steal The Bacon traverses a Father's love as it emotionally outlines the path every dreamer must take. In this world it's easy to recognize persistence has no substitute, yet sometimes, if we dig our heels in further than imagined, we find ourselves good at things unimaginable years ago. Whether our preferred medium is music, product design, invention, writing, poetry, painting, photography, film, or whatever brings us joy, to me, art's chief aim will always be about giving back. Steal The Bacon showcases style and wit as it narrows its gaze on faith, family, and business through the lens of creative story telling. Though I never point directly at any line of work in the book, the communication to the reader is clear: be careful what you wish for... and never give up!
